EDDIE BERMAN
Drums
eddie@houseoffloyd.com

Growing up on Long Island NY, Eddie started playing drums after watching the Beatles first appearance on Ed Sullivan. Moving out to the Bay Area after high school, he majored in Music Composition, and studied drums with Chuck Brown, Tony Williams and Narada Michael Walden. From the early 80's to the mid 90's he drummed with the original Zasu Pitts Memorial Orchestra and Big Bang Beat, after some fun years with SF’s new wave favorites No Sisters and Eye Protection.

A fan since the earliest albums, his first exposure to live Pink Floyd was an Atom Heart Mother concert at a junior college auditorium in Queens, NY, followed by the Meddle tour at Carnegie Hall, and the legendary 1:00am Radio City Music Hall unveiling of Dark Side of the Moon. He’s an avid trader of live Floyd recordings, with a collection of over 600 shows. Eddie used the 2006-2008 Roger Waters tours as an opportunity to meet up with other Floyd friends and travel, taking in and photographing numerous shows in the US, Canada, the UK and the Netherlands.

“I’m all over the map as to what music influences me, from Mahler, Bartok and Brahms to R&B to the Beatles, the early Dead and Zappa and endless others. Fundamentally though, I’m drawn to music that explores extremes in dynamic and emotional range whether in the form of a song, a large work or an entire live show. Pink Floyd gives me that, and I am lucky to have been able to get a good dose from their early days to their last tours. With the House of Floyd I can now help to recreate those experiences for others, both for those who’ve also seen them live, and those who missed out.”
